Both of the RSG programs are required for IDEAS trainees earning a PhD. Only one of the two courses is required for Masters students.
The RSG Research Communication Program brings in experts from theatre, journalism, education, marketing and design to train graduate student researchers in oral communication skills. The workshop series will be offered during the summer session, meeting weekly in the evenings for 2 hours. An additional session will be offered specifically for IDEAS trainees.
RSG Writing for Scientists is an online synchronous course still in development, with priority enrollment given to IDEAS trainees. The course will focus on persuasion and rhetoric, writing for different audiences, and using visuals effectively. Topics will include grant proposal writing, social media, and the psychology of visual processing.
